Abundance Secrets Part V cont. - The Final Step
Welcome back to Abundance Secrets!
In our last issue, we talked about giving 1-5%(%10) of our income and opening the gateways for abundance. But who do we give this money to and how?
Well there are many different opinions on the matter, so will address a few of them, and let you make your own preference.
First, you'll want to give the money to a person or cause you feel excited about giving to. The advantage of giving to a cause or group? It's easier to remain in a "givingness" attitude and not expecting any thing back. This is the best attitude to have and I'll explain why it's more difficult to this when giving to individuals in a bit. However, when giving to a cause or group, you'll find an unlimited amount of sources. There are literally millions of causes or non-profit organizations who support themselves primarily thru contributions from individuals - From the local Girl Scout chapter to Cancer Research to your local place of worship. When giving to these groups, it easy to send a check or money order to a well-respected organization that holds beliefs similar to your own. It can be a religious organization, social issues organization, or even a political organization. The important part is to pick 1 or more and start sending them your 1-5% and stay consistent.
In my opinion, one finds more joy in giving to the cause or organization that is your source of inspiration but ultimately it doesn't matter for creating an increased flow of wealth, health, and success into your life.
Giving to individuals can also be an extremely rewarding experience. In this holiday season, it easy to see and feel the joy of giving to someone with no expectation of the gift being returned. Those who gave to little children know what I'm talking about. HOWEVER, there's also a trap in giving to individuals, precisely because one can subconsciously expect something in return. This subconscious attitude negates the power of the giving. When you give to individuals, do you expect something in return? Almost everyone does subconsciously. Whether it be another gift, a simple "thank you", a closer relationship with that person, respect, a hug, approval, etc. The list of reasons we give to individuals in our life are endless and often we DO expect something in return, money or not. Personally, I like to avoid this situation and keep the majority of my giving reserved for organizations that I have no hope of recieving a "thank you" from. Many organizations often will send you a thank you note, or a free subscription to their newsletter, or coffee mug. But obviously in those situations, you're not giving to subconsciously get that "something" in return - outside of recieving a greater influx of wealth, health and success in your life.
Note - One way to give to individuals is to do it anonymously. For instance, leaving a neighbor down the street the money in an unmarked envelope at their door. But again, if you end up getting upset when that same neighbor doesn't help you to move, then it's better to just reserve your giving for organizations. You wouldn't expect the Red Cross to come help you move just because you sent them $50, would you? ;)I think you get the idea of how you should give. If not, feel free to post a question or comment. As you start giving more and more, you'll recognize the differences in "why" you are giving.
Ok, have a great day and I'll see you back here tomorrow at
