How Affirmations Work | DO Affirmations Really Work?

I recently read a site claiming that affirmations don't work.
In fact I often get asked that same question on many discussion boards

"Do affirmations really work?"

Of course they do!

If you've read my Understanding the Subconscious Mind series, then you probably already know why and how affirmations work.

Unfortunately, most people do NOT understand how the mind works (even the "gurus"), or how the conscious and subconscious mind work to create our reality.

But wait, let me clarify.

An affirmation is often "called" different things by "self-help" programs

I'm sure you heard the following:

• Goals
• Goal statements
• Intentions
• Intention statements
• Action Plans
• etc.

All of these things are "affirmations"

In fact, even if you've never read a "self-help" book in your life, you've been using "affirmations" every day of your life.

"How?!" you ask.

Anything, yes, ANYTHING you think about more than once is an "affirmation" as far as your mind is concerned.

• If you go to work every day, THAT's an affirmation to your subconscious mind.
• If you drive carefully to avoid an accident, THAT'S an affirmation to your subconscious mind.
• Do you think about brushing your teeth every day?

Lol, you probably don't give it TOO much thought, but that's an affirmation also.

Sure, we call them other things, like "habits", "responsibilities", etc. but at their core, they are affirmations ie. "subconscious programming"

For example the simple thought process of
"I need to go to the grocery store soon" quickly becomes an affirmation.

You probably thought of it:

• first, when you noticed you were getting low on food or drinks (consciously)
• second, when you AGAIN made the decison to actually go to the store (consciously)
• thirdly, the entire time you were on your way to the store (subconsciously or consciously)
• fourth, while you doing the actually shopping (subconsciously)
• fifth, whenver you were using the product knowing someday you would need to buy more of it (subconsciously and consciously)
